Thanks to whomever did these.

A R.O.B. thread on /b/.

And it’s the most civil ROB thread in months.

2014 will be a great year for video games!

2014 will be a great year for video games!

Text

Starting January 2014, R.O.B. threads will return on a regular set schedule with a brand new format where each “threadisode” will focus on educating viewers about a certain video game system or a video game franchise, along with encouraging viewers at home to share their personal stories, photos, or comments about the video game system or franchise.

Under this format, R.O.B. threads will happen either once or twice a month.

I currently have a handful of ideas, but if you have any franchise or system you wish for R.O.B. to cover, just drop me a suggestion.

R.O.B. THREAD IN PROGRESS!

Please come, have fun, and help report the no-fun brigade.

Not sure about time. I don’t know if doing it earlier or later will ensure less complications.

SYNOPSIS: R.O.B. and GB get Wii Sports Club.

Expect a thread either Thursday or Friday.

Sorry for taking so long.

In the pursuit of making R.O.B. threads the most entertaining and humorous threads on /v/ whenever they’re on, I came up with an idea that will allow you, the wonderful fans, to be involved.

In the past, some have expressed their interest in “voice acting” for the characters in the R.O.B. threads. Unfortunately, I had no clue as to how to properly implement voices. However, after some thought, I’ve come up with an idea for a R.O.B. thread that will be presented with sound-embedded files, each containing audio files of the dialogue being expressed with the panel that it’s posted with.

It’s not too groundbreaking of an idea, but I like it nonetheless.

With that in mind, we need three voice actors for R.O.B., Game Boy, and F.C.R. Details of the roles are as follows.

R.O.B.: To be portrayed as a kind and simple individual, albeit foolish at times. Looking for voice that’s lighthearted, yet with character.

F.C.R: To be portrayed as a brash and crude individual. Looking for a voice that’s very harsh-sounding, with an ever-present stereotypical (yet somewhat believable) Japanese accent.

Game Boy: This role has the least amount planned. Need someone to provide giggles, sighs, and other kawaii-esque expressions. A female is preferred for this role, but sounding like a girl is also acceptable.

Send your soundbites in the form of Vocaroo links to my inbox if you’re interested. If you don’t have a Tumblr account, please include a way for me to contact you.

I’ll be looking forward to all of your submissions.

  • Question: So you got a chance to hold a 2DS? What did you think of it? - Anonymous
  • Answer:

It was rather comfortable to hold, and I didn’t have any issues with holding it and using the stylus at the same time.

My biggest concern with it is it’s design. I imagine that it will be very easy to scratch up the screen without the clam-shell design. Also, coming from someone who owned a 3DS since near-launch, it feels so awkward, especially with the sleep function being replaced by a simple slide switch on the bottom right corner.

Lastly, I wouldn’t like the lack of the 3D function, being one of the very few individuals that happen to like the 3D function of the 3DS. For someone that doesn’t care (and I hear that there is quite a lot that don’t), then I suppose it doesn’t matter.

I overheard people talking about wanting to get one because of the “lack of hinges,” claiming that they’re “so easy to break” and they wouldn’t have to worry about that with the 2DS. I’ve owned DS style consoles ever since 2004 and I never had any sort of problem with any hinges, so I have no idea what they’re talking about.

Bottom-line: I’m not in the targeted demographic for the 2DS, but for those who are, it’s a nice, cost-effective way to playing the games you want to play.

The R.O.B I won from rememberedoldbuddy a while back. It’s not a very good photo, but here he is! He’s resting comfortably on my stereo where I can always see him. He’s holding the copy of gyromite that came with him. Plus, I found my old Game Boy and it just felt right. His Gyros are packed away somewhere safe and clean. :)
